True North Playground

BiGfiSh collaborated Landscape Architects Spiire and the City of Hume to design and fabricate play elements for a new playspace at True North in Roxburgh Park.

The playground consists of different activities aimed at specific age groups, including swings and rockers, a dual flying fox with all abilities harness and a huge natural climbing boulder with a slide. There is a walkway with drums and tactile totems for all abilities play, and a sculpted rock grotto full of discoveries for curious minds.

The space is adorned with giant blades of grass, expressed as abstracted sculptures growing out of the ground and the tops of structures. We also added an anemometer, or "whirlygig" to the top of our giant basket swing, which is perched next to three giant tunnels for kids to explore.
