Palm Plaza is the main pedestrian link between the Dandenong Market and the Plaza Shopping Centre. Council wished to incorporate signature seating and seating with tables into the central zone. The concept introduces private spaces - a lounge room, a kitchen - and places them into the public sphere. The settings add a playful, decorative element into an otherwise utilitarian space.
As public art the settings create an aesthetic which strives to improve the human experience of the space.
The seats were constructed from steel, concrete, fibreglass and automotive lacquers. The floor lamp uses solar panels for illumination at night.
