Inspired by the seed pod of the Brachychiton Tree and evoking stories of gumnut babies, the ‘Brachyboats’ are interactive play sculptures. They ‘float’ on a thin body of water as they are rowed by children. Composed of a steel wire frame armature, fibreglass reinforced concrete body and a composite rendered skin with a patina finish.
The concept was by landscape artist, Rick McConaghey, with design development, construction and installation by BiGfiSh.
They are installed in the newly planted Docklands Park
